There’s nothing like warming up in a cozy coffee shop on a cold day … or cooling off over an iced latte on a warm one. Coffee is a necessary staple in any season, and if you can enjoy it in a great environment, even better.
Toronto is home to some of the best coffee shops in Canada, and some of them are in (or very near) the North York neighborhood. When you live at Via123, your next latte is always a few steps or a quick drive away.
Himalayan Coffee House
Creative coffee, anyone? Located at 2552 Yonge Street in North York, Himalayan Coffee House is known both for their latte art and their delicious brew. The cafe is small and cozy, the service is friendly, and the WiFi is free.
Baretto Cafe is another great place to go for latte art—in fact, they boast of creating art with every cup of coffee. This authentic Italian cafe also serves bagels, fancy toasts, delicious pizza, pasta and freshly baked goods, so it’s the perfect place to go if you need some food with your cappuccino. Baretto Caffeé is located on the first floor of the Alpha Corporate Centre at 1262 Don Mills Road.
Canephora Cafe & Bakery
Since 2015, Canephora Cafe & Bakery has been a cozy gathering spot in the community. Located at 222 Finch Avenue West, you’ll find tasty breakfast and salads here in addition to some of the best coffee in the city.
Istanbul Cafe & Espresso Bar
If you’ve never had Turkish coffee, you’re in for a real treat when you visit Istanbul Cafe at 174 Eglinton Avenue East. Between the Turkish decor, the authentic food and the amazing coffee, you’ll understand why this spot is a local favorite.
Sometimes you just need an extremely well-made latte in your life. Supercoffee always delivers, and if you’d like to sit down and enjoy it, you can do so in their comfortable cafe. They’re conveniently located on Weston Road on the corner of Eglinton.
The Mad Bean
Located at 519 Eglinton Avenue West, The Mad Bean serves organic, fair trade coffee, and it’s downright delicious. They’re known for their friendly service, and in fact, the cafe was voted one of the top places to spend a rainy day in Toronto by Toronto.com. We agree with their assessment.
Zona Caffe is located in the nearby Vaughan neighborhood on Jane Street. The building is unassuming from the outside, but inside you’ll find wonderful coffee and tasty lunch items like pizza and salad. Locals love to come here for a tasty Italian lunch.
You’ll find Coffee Culture at 10037 Keele Street, and their late hours (11 AM or midnight, depending on the day) makes them a popular place for night owls. The welcoming decor will make you want to stay long after your latte is gone. The cafe also serves light breakfast and lunch items for those who prefer to linger. Coffee Culture has several locations, but this one is a local favorite.
Seara Bakery & Pastry
If you need a freshly baked croissant or a tasty sandwich, Seara Bakery & Pastry on Weston Road will always deliver. The bakery owner opened his shop in 2006, fulfilling a lifelong dream of opening an elegant bakery that serves the best Portuguese cakes and pastries in the area.
While the breakfast and dessert items are outstanding, they’re even better when they’re washed down with a cup of speciality coffee.
